I love the dress, It looks fantastic.I'd prob wear it with the halter but thats me.
Ultimately you've got to be comfortable in what you're wearing otherwise its your choice. If people have opinions they'll have them. But unless there are certain "rules" about what you can and can't wear go with what you like.
Personally i think this dress is a great choice!

i don't know of any specific stores, but if you're near nyc, i'd just go walking and see what i found. there are bound to be some small little-known boutiques somewhere. i wouldn't go searching for a prom dress in particular – just go looking for a dress that strikes you. just take a walk! go to more little-known places
